Question 1

What is SeenAndCited and what does it do?

Accepted Answer

SeenAndCited is an AI Visibility Operating System that connects discovery, improvement, and measurement. It helps you understand how your business is represented, measure whether supported AI services mention, recommend, or cite it, compare competitor visibility, and identify evidence-backed improvements. Your AI Action Plan organizes recommended work, Tasks tracks implementation, and Prove shows what subsequent measurements reveal after the work is completed—without claiming that the work caused the change.

Question 2

How is AEO different from traditional SEO?

Accepted Answer

Traditional SEO focuses on visibility in search results. Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), sometimes called Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), focuses on how a business and its content appear in AI-generated answers. Clear factual content, accessible pages, and relevant third-party presence can matter to both. Optional files such as llms.txt, special markup, or allowing every training crawler are not universal requirements for appearing in AI answers. SeenAndCited measures supported answers and sources rather than treating technical checks as proof of visibility.

Question 3

Which AI services does SeenAndCited measure?

Accepted Answer

Citation visibility is measured on Perplexity, Google AI Mode, and Gemini with Google Search grounding. Positioning separately measures Gemini's consumer surface, Perplexity, Claude with web search, an OpenAI answer-only surface, and Google AI Mode. The OpenAI positioning measurement is not a direct reproduction of the consumer ChatGPT experience; Claude's retrieved sources do not count as approved citation evidence. Authority candidate suggestions use ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity, but these suggestions are not measurements. Evaluation, Professional, and Agency share the supported core measurement approach; Agency adds portfolio capacity and agency-delivery features. Prove compares relevant measured evidence rather than producing a separate five-service score.

Question 4

What is the difference between AI Visibility and AI Positioning?

Accepted Answer

AI Visibility examines whether your website appears as a qualifying cited source in measured answers. AI Positioning examines whether your business is recommended, mentioned, or included in a provider set for your tracked questions. A business can be mentioned without its website being cited, or cited without being recommended. SeenAndCited keeps these outcomes separate rather than treating them as interchangeable evidence.

Question 5

What are citation measurements and how do they work?

Accepted Answer

SeenAndCited measures a relevant question, such as 'best CRM for small agencies,' on supported surfaces and saves the answer and its qualifying source evidence. Perplexity and grounded Gemini support answer-linked attribution. Google AI Mode provides answer-level sources rather than citations tied to individual answer passages; their order is not a citation rank. Sources merely retrieved behind the scenes do not count as citations. Results retain their question and surface context so you can inspect the evidence behind visibility and competitor comparisons.

Question 6

Where do the questions in my Prompt Portfolio come from?

Accepted Answer

SeenAndCited builds relevant buyer questions from your business profile and confirmed products, services, audiences, and locations. These are not records of customers' private AI searches. Relevance checks filter unsupported questions and duplicate intent. Suggested or retained questions are not necessarily active monitored questions, and available capacity is a ceiling, not a promise to fill the portfolio with less relevant questions.

Question 7

How often are questions measured?

Accepted Answer

Active questions are measured on their recurring schedule, with timing shown in the product. New questions are measured when added, and manual refresh controls are available where supported. Within a citation measurement round, Perplexity and Google AI Mode each have one observation and grounded Gemini has three. That repeat depth depends on the surface, not the plan; three Gemini observations in one round are not three independent before-and-after measurements. Scheduled measurements, technical reviews, and tracking events do not all follow the same timetable.

Question 8

How should I interpret results when AI answers change?

Accepted Answer

Each result describes the saved answer or measurement round, not every answer that a person might receive from that service. SeenAndCited uses a fixed, surface-specific measurement approach and keeps different source-attribution rules separate. Repeated observations show what was observed within a round; they are not a confidence score or a guarantee that future answers will match. Historical evidence remains tied to the way it was measured.

Question 9

Does an unavailable answer mean my business was not visible?

Accepted Answer

No. Failed or unmeasurable checks are not evidence that your business was absent. A service timeout, an unsupported answer, or an unresolved market can prevent a usable measurement. These states remain separate from a valid answer in which your business was not found. Technical access failures likewise remain unknown rather than automatically becoming site defects.

Question 10

How do AI Understanding and AI Readiness differ?

Accepted Answer

AI Understanding presents the inferred business profile and gaps in its representation; you can confirm or correct business facts. AI Readiness checks observable technical conditions affecting access, discovery, and readable content. Understanding is not a direct readout of what every external AI service knows, and a Readiness score does not prove indexing, trust, or citation eligibility.

Question 11

What does AI Readiness check?

Accepted Answer

AI Readiness reviews observable conditions such as crawler access rules, page access and readability, snippet restrictions, sitemap availability, and canonical consistency. Missing robots.txt does not automatically block crawling, and a missing sitemap is a discovery-hygiene issue rather than proof of exclusion. llms.txt and the mere presence of structured data are not scored requirements in the current methodology. Results identify technical work to consider; they do not certify that an AI service has indexed or will cite your site.

Question 12

Does SeenAndCited track share of voice against competitors?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Share of Voice compares your share of the qualifying citation evidence with the competing domains in the measured questions. It differs from citation rate, which describes how often your site is cited in eligible measurements. These percentages can match by coincidence because they use different denominators. The comparison covers the measured question set, not the entire market or all AI conversations.

Question 13

Does SeenAndCited offer historical trends and reporting?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can review saved visibility evidence, competitor comparisons, Readiness history, and Positioning trends. Positioning Trend uses eligible tracked-question runs and separates Recommended, Mentioned, and In set outcomes, with service filtering. Changes describe what was observed over time; they do not establish that a particular task caused the change. Raw AI monitoring responses are retained for 12 months. Work reporting is available on Professional and Agency; client portals and white-label branding are Agency capabilities.

Question 14

How do the Action Plan, Tasks, and Prove work together?

Accepted Answer

The Action Plan identifies recommended work and work decisions. Linked Tasks track implementation. After work is completed, Prove compares relevant before-and-after visibility evidence separately by surface, where enough usable, comparable measurements exist. It currently needs at least two independent measurement rounds before and two after the work for an assessment. Results can remain waiting, not directly measurable, not comparable, or inconclusive. Completion does not itself establish an improved result, and improvement after work does not prove the work caused it.

Question 15

What is the difference between Observed Authority and AI-Suggested Candidates?

Accepted Answer

Observed Authority concerns qualifying sources found in your measured AI evidence. AI-Suggested Candidates are potential sources proposed separately by ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity; a candidate requires agreement from at least two valid engines on the same source and source class. Suggestions are not measured Authority evidence and are never automatically added to the Action Plan. Presence you confirm is labeled separately from independent verification. If you choose to pursue a candidate, its suggested provenance remains visible until qualifying measured evidence supports a different classification.

Question 16

What authority work does SeenAndCited recommend?

Accepted Answer

Authority helps you inspect relevant third-party sources and verify whether your business has an appropriate presence there. The Action Plan owns recommendations and work decisions, such as reviewing a relevant listing, professional association, publication, or partner opportunity. Suitability depends on the source type and confirmed business facts; appearing on a source is not a guaranteed route to a citation. Tasks tracks the work you choose to pursue.

Question 17

How does SeenAndCited identify content gaps?

Accepted Answer

SeenAndCited uses your confirmed business context and measured question evidence to identify relevant gaps and recommend work. Where a content brief is appropriate, it can outline the question to address, useful facts, and a suggested structure. A missing citation does not automatically mean you need a new page, and a generated brief does not guarantee that a published page will be cited.

Question 18

Can SeenAndCited help me write content for AI Visibility?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Content briefs and the built-in generator help draft supported content such as posts and FAQ material addressing identified questions and gaps. You can review the facts and claims, edit the draft, and use it in your publishing workflow. Human review remains necessary: generating, approving, or publishing content does not guarantee citations. Subsequent measurements show whether the observed visibility changed.

Question 19

How can I improve my AI Visibility?

Accepted Answer

Start with your measured evidence and confirmed business facts. Address genuine access or readability problems, make relevant pages clear and factual, and review appropriate third-party opportunities. Use the Action Plan to choose work and Tasks to track it. Optional files, markup, or allowing every AI training crawler are not universal visibility requirements. Keep measuring afterward; SeenAndCited reports observed changes without promising a citation or attributing a change to your work.

Question 20

How does SeenAndCited detect AI-related crawler requests?

Accepted Answer

A lightweight script or pixel records requests that reach it and match known user-agent patterns, along with information such as the page path and timestamp. Supported patterns include GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, and PerplexityBot. OAI-SearchBot is a distinct OpenAI crawler, not a total of other bots. Many crawlers fetch HTML without loading scripts or pixels, and user-agent matching does not independently verify identity. Observed requests do not prove indexing, training, ingestion, or citation; no recorded hit does not prove no crawler visited.

Question 21

How do crawler activity, AI referrals, and citations differ?

Accepted Answer

Crawler activity records qualifying AI-related requests received by your tracking installation. AI referrals record visits with recognized AI-service referrers. Citation measurements inspect the answers and qualifying sources from supported measured services. A crawler request is not a human referral, and neither proves that your business was recommended or cited. Overview's Crawler Activity card and the client portal's Observed AI-related requests summarize recorded activity when tracking is configured; incomplete coverage still applies.

Question 22

How do I install the SeenAndCited tracking snippet?

Accepted Answer

Use your site's Tracking and config instructions to add the site-specific snippet to the page head or through Google Tag Manager. Follow the relevant platform steps and verify the installation. Tracking records qualifying requests and AI referrals when they are received; installation does not guarantee an immediate recorded visit. Measurements of AI answers are separate from the tracking installation.

Question 23

What if someone else installs the tracking snippet?

Accepted Answer

Use the developer handoff on the install screen to email a site-specific snippet and platform instructions to the person responsible for your website. The instructions include ways to verify the installation. Delivery and successful installation are not guaranteed; you may still need to coordinate with your developer and check the result in Tracking and config.

Question 24

Does SeenAndCited integrate with Google Analytics?

Accepted Answer

SeenAndCited records qualifying AI-service referrals through its own tracking installation rather than importing Google Analytics data. You can inspect that recorded referral activity in the product. A direct Google Analytics integration is not currently offered, and referral totals can differ from other analytics tools because their detection, filtering, and coverage differ.

Question 25

Can I send content to WordPress or Wix?

Accepted Answer

Yes. With a supported WordPress or Wix connection configured, you can send supported blog or FAQ content as a draft for review in that publishing platform. This is not immediate publication and does not promise support for arbitrary pages or preservation of categories, tags, featured images, or schema. Review the draft and publish through your connected platform when it is ready.

Question 26

How does SeenAndCited help agencies manage clients?

Accepted Answer

Agency brings client sites into a portfolio with site-specific measurements, business profiles, recommendations, and work records. It includes 10 client sites for $299/month, with additional client sites at $24/month each. Agency capabilities include branding, white-label options, and configurable client portals, while the core measurement methodology and task workflow are shared with Professional.

Question 27

Can clients approve proposed work?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In an enabled client portal for the current reporting period, clients can approve, reject, or put Proposed next work on hold. The decision and its date appear on the corresponding proposed Tasks record. Proposed next work appears before In progress, Awaiting measurement, and Completed. A client decision records feedback; it does not publish content, mark implementation complete, or prove an outcome. Agency preview buttons do not save decisions, and past reporting periods are read-only.

Question 28

Can I use my own branding and share client reports?

Accepted Answer

Branding, white-label options, and client portals are Agency capabilities, not included in Professional or the Evaluation. You can configure a branded portal and enable sharing for a client site, with optional password protection. The live portal and saved historical report snapshots serve different purposes; a historical report is available only where a snapshot exists. Sharing a portal does not give the viewer access to your workspace.

Question 29

Does SeenAndCited support internal teams?

Accepted Answer

Professional and Agency include team seats and role-based workspace access so internal team members can coordinate site work. Shared Tasks, evidence, and drafts keep the workflow in one place. Client portal feedback is separate from internal workspace membership and does not grant clients access to the workspace.

Question 30

What is the difference between the free Snapshot and the Evaluation?

Accepted Answer

The free AI Visibility Snapshot is a one-time diagnostic using publicly available website information and a small, one-time sample of AI answers. It does not provide ongoing monitoring. The 14-day Evaluation gives you the ongoing core workflow on one site, with no card required: understand the business, measure supported answers, review recommendations, and track work. Agency-only branding and client portals are not included. Fourteen days is an opportunity to explore the workflow, not a guarantee that every improvement will have enough before-and-after evidence for Prove.

Question 31

What happens after the 14-day Evaluation?

Accepted Answer

Choose Professional or Agency to continue with paid-plan access. Evaluation expiry does not itself delete your saved evidence, but the fallback is not a continuation of the paid measurement allowance or Agency capabilities. Existing retention rules still apply, including 12-month retention for raw AI monitoring responses. Review pricing before deciding which plan fits your work.

Question 32

What is the difference between Professional and Agency?

Accepted Answer

Both plans share the core Discover → Improve → Prove workflow and measurement methodology. Professional is $59/month including one site, with additional sites at $39/month each. Agency is $299/month including 10 client sites, with additional client sites at $24/month each. Agency also includes portfolio-delivery capabilities such as branding, white-label options, and client portals. Agency does not buy stronger measurement evidence or a different citation repeat depth.

Question 33

Can I manage multiple websites with one account?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Professional includes one site and supports additional sites at $39/month each. Agency includes 10 client sites and supports additional client sites at $24/month each. A site is a separately managed website or domain with its own business context, measurements, and work—not an individual page or question. Site capacity is shared within the workspace; adding sites does not change the measurement methodology. Consult pricing for site-count examples and current plan details.

Question 34

What support is available?

Accepted Answer

You can contact SeenAndCited by email and use the product documentation for guidance. For questions about onboarding or support arrangements for a client portfolio, contact us before purchasing. We do not promise a particular response time or dedicated support channel here.

Question 35

How does SeenAndCited handle my data?

Accepted Answer

Workspace access is restricted to authorized users, while client portals expose only the report information configured for sharing. Tracking records request and referral metadata, which can include page addresses and referrer information. Those addresses can contain identifying information, so tracking should not be described as collecting no personal data. Consult the privacy policy for data handling and your rights; contact us with account or data questions.

Question 36

How does SeenAndCited compare with other AEO and GEO tools?

Accepted Answer

SeenAndCited connects AI Understanding, AI Readiness, surface-aware visibility and positioning measurements, Authority, the Action Plan, Tasks, and Prove in one workflow. Compare tools on the evidence they measure, source-attribution rules, improvement workflow, site capacity, and agency-delivery features—not only a headline engine count or price. Our pricing page provides a sourced comparison with its scope and limitations; competitor plans and capabilities can change.
